‘A Shared Vision for Waterford Arts' is the first Arts Strategy of the new merged Waterford City and County Council. The Strategy promises to integrate the Arts into all aspects of the community to support the aim of making Waterford City and County a place where people want to work, live and visit.

The Strategy is completely bi-lingual with equal emphasis given to both languages.

Through the combination of innovative typography, colour and photography we designed an engaging contemporary cover that captured the creative energy of the five year strategy.

The cover was matt laminated with a spot UV varnish on the photograph. The document is 250mm wide, shorter than a standard landscape A4, creating a custom size.

The structure of the cover design now forms the basis for other similar publications by the Council, creating a recognisable style but allowing each publication to showcase its individual theme.

While this is a formal strategic document, it also needed to be accessible to the public, reflecting the vision that this Strategy will act as a catalyst for change, making Waterford the Creative County. Our internal design balanced a formal structure with arresting imagery, showcasing the wealth of artistic talent in Waterford – from dance and street performance, to traditional theatre and independent film to public sculpture, painting and music.
