An Coimisiún um Chosaint Sonraí, Data Protection Commission (DPC) is the national independent authority with responsibility for upholding the EU fundamental right of the individual to have their personal data protected. Language created a brand identity for the DPC that is deeply rooted in Irish art history. The DPC logotype is based on a contemporary revision of the ‘triskele symbol’ which appears on the entrance stone at Newgrange in Ireland. The logotype symbolises the DPC brand essence; Empowerment, Supervision and Fairness and builds on the heritage narrative of the existing logo. The identity system also has a contemporary and corporate feel which reflects the organisations developing role as a leading voice in data protection regulation in Ireland, the EU, and globally.
