The Blog Awards Ireland is one of the biggest annual blogging events, with over 2,000 nominations for personal and commercial bloggers. The design theme for the 2018 event was inspired by Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, the Mexican festival. The identity of the awards was built on the excitement and energy of this holiday to convey the celebration of the entrants and their blogs.
To begin with, the colours, textures and patterns were minimally used for the soft launch, to tease, highlight and engage attention for the event. The second stage involved design development and the incorporation of sugar skulls and alebrijes animals, created using the event colours and patterns. For the event trophies, 49 individual designs where created to celebrate the individuality of each winner. The colourful brand treatment was applied throughout the event’s promotion and execution, from social media platforms, motion graphic videos, press and online advertising, posters, tent cards, website, brochure, stage graphics, LCD screens and lighting at the event venue.
The approach to the project incorporated multiple flexible and adaptable elements in collaboration with the client, leading to high engagement with the audience who responded strongly to the vibrant and dynamic designs.
