Boolean Expressions

The Glucksman’s Boolean Expressions: Contemporary Art and Mathematical Data exhibition illustrated the ongoing influence of mathematician, George Boole (the father of the information age) through the work of leading international contemporary artists. The exhibition was accompanied by a 156pp hardcover book which takes the structure of a ‘hasse diagram’ — which is constructed according to Boolean algebra — as one of its central design motifs. The ‘hasse diagram’ is a recurring motif throughout the book, extending to the deep deboss on the back cover, foil-blocking on the case/sleeve and the systematic rotation of the folio numbers through a series of predetermined positions throughout.
