A large-scale reconstruction of the historic grounds at Christ Church Cathedral prompted the need for a large-scale solution. As the construction work would last for 6–8 months we were engaged to create a friendly face, to mask the works, and increase visitor numbers at the cathedral.

Working closely with the management team in Christ Church, we developed narratives that encapsulated the illustrious history and events that make Christ Church Cathedral the popular attraction it is today. The resulting 140 meter hoarding ran around the exterior of the site, while temporary way-finding punctuated the interior.

Flexible graphic patterns derived from the rich tapestry of floor tiles, stained glass and historic architecture, were used as a graphic framework. We collaborated with Irish Illustrator Ruan van Vliet to characterise the many stories and tales in his uniquely witty and playful style.
