2015 was the 5th year that Brown Thomas hosted it’s annual CREATE event. CREATE 2015 was a celebration of Irish innovation and design, providing a platform for the most extraordinary emerging design talent.

The event ran for six weeks throughout the summer months and featured over 50 designers and 3 recent NCAD graduates across accessories, graphic print, jewellery, textile design, millinery and ready-to-wear.

The brief was to come up with a totally new identity for this special event. A strong and easy to recognise mark to be applied and adapted across all touchpoints and channels (in-store, windows, outdoor, brochure, online and press).

With 2015 being the year of Irish design, I felt it was particularly important to use a contemporary Irish headline typeface as part of the main mark. Characterised by it’s low contrast, flat inner curves and heavy narrow slabs, ‘Kettle Stencil Black’ from Typegroup was perfectly suitable.

Working closely with the Brown Thomas VM and marketing teams this huge project was executed in a timely, efficient and consistent manner. The scale of the project included everything from multiple variations of print design, press and outdoor campaigns, installations, environmental design (including 32 panels in T2 Dublin airport) in-store graphics, online and social.
