On one level Funny Business is a 72 page, self-published joke book. On another it is a quest to discern who is human and who is not in an increasingly automated world. Like a strange Turing Test, Funny Business does this by telling jokes to international corporations using their ‘live chat’ customer service feature. Each conversation has it’s own strange charm—sometimes warm and surprising, other times fearful and confused. Each interaction is presented in it's entirety as a screen shot, with corporation and employee names redacted.
