Taylorfest is an annual film festival celebrating Irelands contribution to silent cinema. Named in honour of Ireland’s most prolific filmmaker, William Desmond Taylor, the festival is imbued with the spirit of fun and glamour of the 1920s.
We were approached to create a series of promotional prints to give the festival a distinctive aesthetic that mirrored aspects of silent cinema. We developed a typographic solution taking reference from title cards used in silent films; these titles would appear distorted when projected onto sheets producing interesting irregularities. We mimicked this effect with the festivals tagline “Savour the Silence”.
