Design 2035: Pathways to the Future — A Call to Action for Ireland’s Design Community

The Institute of Designers Ireland (IDI) has published Design 2035: Pathways to the Future, a new research report exploring the evolving role of design across enterprise, public services, education, and government.

The report highlights both the opportunities and the risks facing the design sector in Ireland.

Its message is clear: without collective action, design will continue to be seen as a primarily tactical or aesthetic function—limiting its influence and Ireland’s ability to innovate, compete, and deliver effective public services into the future.

The report also points to a widening gap between Ireland and other countries, where design is already embedded in national strategy and policy.

As a community partner, 100 Archive encourages designers, studios, organisations, and commissioners of design to engage with this research and contribute to the conversation.

You can download a digital copy here: Design 2035: Pathways To The Future.

Explore the report, share it within your networks, and consider how you—or your organisation—can help drive meaningful change for the future of design in Ireland.
