Acre

Acre is a social network of community farms and farmers in Clonburris, an upcoming town in development in South-West Dublin. The project looks into future issues for the Dublin City Council and the changing landscape of town planning needs in the coming decades.

Acre is a community based co-operative farm designed to tackle social issues in Ireland by giving local people authority over their own food and creating social interaction in and a sense of pride in the community. It creates face-to-face friendships through communal farming, workshops, farmers markets and after school programmes. It allows residents to gain access to fresh produce and they can learn about new, genetically improved crops. Through Acre, residents can learn skills and learn the latest technology to grow sustainably and bring the neighbourhood together.
