Brown Bag Films Brand

Brown Bag Films, a world-renowned animation studio with a 30-year legacy, faced a branding challenge: while their creative output had evolved, their visual identity remained static. Their branding underplayed the maturity and diversity of their work, risking a narrow market perception in a fragmented, highly competitive global entertainment landscape.

Piquant led a brand transformation to reposition the studio as a versatile creative partner, capable of delivering excellence across all formats and audiences. Through collaborative workshops, we developed a strategic foundation that would shape every creative decision. The resulting brand system features a warm, grounded palette and a flexible typographic language that allows the studio's diverse intellectual properties to take centre stage.

Central to the identity is a motion-first system where movement is a core expression of the brand. The motion logic directly mimics the studio’s own craft, utilising 3D space to house 2D objects. This allows the brand to exist confidently in digital environments, reinforcing their expertise by mirroring the very animation processes for which they are globally recognised.

The brand came to life through a high-performance website built to showcase the studio’s work, characters, and worlds. The site categorises an extensive portfolio, while also sharing the culture of a multi-location global studio. Behind-the-scenes content reveals the innovative production processes and technical craft that underpin the work, aligning brand strategy with digital execution and positioning Brown Bag Films to continue shaping animated storytelling for global audiences.
