CAFÉ SOLO is range of award winning espresso strength cold brew coffee liqueurs created with the coffee enthusiast in mind.
The design for CAFÉ SOLO borrows heavily from 1980s culture and style, a period that gave birth to London’s thriving cocktail culture. Where legend has it a super model walked into Fred’s Bar and asked barman Dick Bradsill for a drink that would “Wake me up and F*ck me up” - the Espresso Martini was born. It was a time when music was decadent, Katherine Hamnett had us choosing life and Thatcher’s England was reaching a crescendo.
We chose to use the monochromatic optimism of the times for the CAFÉ SOLO wordmark. However, in the knowledge that CAFÉ SOLO - ORIGINAL was resting in a selection of handpicked casks that had previously held a range of fortified European wines, giving the base liqueur an even richer complexity, we chose to add a vibrant palette of colours and a set of strong graphical patterns that borrowed from the traditional ceramic tiles used in the country where these wines originated, in order to create a distinctive look for future variants.
The wrap-around three panel label tells three distinct stories as the customer rotates the bottle. Panel one is dedicated to clearly identifying the variant, panel two describes the origin of the SOLO coffee used in the CAFÉ SOLO and the flavours given to the base liqueur by the finishing casks, and finally, the third panel houses the mandatories and a recipe for the signature pour for each variant.
The wordmark is screen printed on the bottle in a style that emulates the hand application of markings on bottles and casks, from the regions that influence the cask finished coffee liqueurs, and are individually finished with a hand dipped custom wax, which speaks to the level of craft afforded to each bottle of CAFÉ SOLO.
Currently there are two CAFÉ SOLO liqueurs available, the ORIGINAL and the PX, Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask finish, with an extended range in cask ready for future releases. We have also extended the range to a Ready-To-Drink premixed can you just CHILL, SHAKE & SERVE for a perfect Espresso Martini.
