Comrades In Art

Comrades in Art tells the story of a network of artists who opposed the rise of fascism during the 1930s. For the cover, I designed a custom typeface based on the hand-drawn letterforms from the cover of ‘We Poor Miserable Devils’ by Hilding Östlund. The display typeface, Comrades, is used on the jacket and for display typography within the book, creating a direct link between historical source material and the publication’s contemporary design.
