Despite 2016 being a particularly challenging year, with continuing conflict in Syria and famine in East Africa, Concern Worldwide still reached more than 22 million people in 27 of the world’s poorest countries. The key theme to get across in this year’s annual report was to demonstrate that Concern has continued to build their capacity to provide larger, better and faster emergency response directly to the areas that need it the most. To convey a sense of urgency, we introduced a bright green fluorescent green and graphic brush-like device to highlight key information. Elsewhere, a bright pop of colour supports the rich selection of photography featured in the report helping to showcase the positive work that Concern does to directly enable people to improve their lives. The front cover has a high gloss finish that contrasts with the internal layout’s uncoated finish, allowing the striking portrait of one of Concern’s beneficiaries – Fatema from Bangladesh – to stand out and illustrate that, although Concern’s work is with the world’s most disadvantaged people – positive outcomes are still possible.
