The festival had a couple of main problems. While they’d been in existence for 15 years there was very little awareness. The second was that people generally thought they were a book festival. What DWF is really about is ideas, dialogue and insight with modern writers and thinkers. We drew inspiration from the tools that allow us to communicate – words and punctuation. The logo and a set of icons makes inventive use of punctuation while words and names in variety of typefaces were used throughout the campaign.
