Guzzle: Issue Two, The Intimacy of Eating

After the success of the inaugural edition, Guzzle returned, bigger, bolder, and bursting with more essays, interviews, illustrations, and photographs commissioned in response to the topic of love. 

As a publication that focuses on the intricate relationships that people have with food, the topic of love continues to demonstrate the importance of presenting emerging artists and voices as they craft narratives in response to a set theme. From food memories that evoke a sense of home to an unrequited romance between one man and a kebab shop, 'The Intimacy of Eating' encapsulates both the tender and callous moments of our societal dynamic with food.

The subsequent issue features a series of illustrations by Daniel Conroy, Stephen Heffernan and Marina Marinina, complemented by a commissioned photography series by award-winning photographer Enda Burke. This artist commission holds particular significance as it secured funding from Culture Ireland to tour to Berlin in May 2024 as part of the Zeitgeist Irland 2024 programme.

Issue two launched with a kebab and wine-themed event (inspired by A Date with Mr. Döner) in Hen's Teeth, Dublin with live readings from a selection of contributors. The publication is stocked at various locations across the UK and Ireland, including the Dublin Art Book Fair, The Library Project, Coffeewerk + Press, Frank's Wine Bar, 107 in East London, and will soon be available to buy at Mag Culture.
