IMMA Collection — Art as Agency

IMMA Collection: Art as Agency is a major three-year display celebrating IMMA’s Permanent Collection as a source of agency and knowledge. Featuring over 100 artists, from the 1960s to the present, it highlights key works, including many recent acquisitions. This ambitious exhibition invites engagement and research over time, allowing for a rich durational experience of Ireland’s Modern and Contemporary Art Collection.

We were tasked with creating a flexible identity system that allows for iterative versions of the campaign to exist over the course of the three year run. Use of simple and bold modular motion system makes it possible to deliver of wider range of assets to keep refreshing the look and feel of the exhibition promotion.

Using the museum’s system for storing artworks as a starting point, we developed ways of showcasing multiple images together to distinguish Art as Agency from regular exhibition programming, where use of single hero images is the standard. Tonally, the identity is an exercise in restraint, extending the language of the IMMA brand, but presenting it in a new elevated way to reflect the scope and significance of this major exhibition.
