As part of Ireland’s campaign to be elected to the United Nations Security Council for 2021—2022 we were asked to develop a symbol that would be identifiable as from Ireland. We achieved this by creating a mark based on a depiction of the shamrock, combining the green, white and orange of the Irish flag and the blue of the United Nations. The negative space between its three leaves formed the shape of a white dove, a symbol of peace. The mark is being used as a central motif to build recognition for Ireland’s peace-oriented stance at the UN.
