It’s safe to say that the National Leprechaun Museum of Ireland does not easily fit into the traditional museum website style and nor should it. A quirky, fun but seriously creative cultural space needed something different. The rationale behind creating a website that invites users to browse in a non-linear way and to delve into an illustrated landscape is to bring site visitors immediately into an unexpected world of myth and legend, open for discovery. The design of the NLM website aligns firmly with the museum's aim of being a centre of excellence for the Irish oral tradition.

We spent time considering the website concept for NLM from a point of literature, art, and culture, handed down over generations. We knew the website was about how to marry literary folklore with a fun visitor attraction, bringing website visitors along on the journey.

The design concept for the NLM centered around storytelling, art, and the folklore traditions of Ireland. We wanted to bring this experience to visitors in a way that would take them by surprise. Stories and the images they evoke go together, so we decided to blend story and art in a big way.
