The Lyric Theatre in Belfast is one of Northern Ireland’s most important cultural institutions, but its identity had become overshadowed by the productions it staged. While shows were well promoted, the theatre itself lacked a clear, consistent voice. The challenge was to create a refreshed brand that could reintroduce The Lyric with confidence, while remaining flexible enough to support a wide range of programming.
Our design intent was to anchor the identity in the theatre’s strongest asset – its striking wedge-shaped building – and use this as the foundation for a system that balances structure and creativity. The new brand needed to provide hierarchy across sub-brands like Membership, Learning, and New Writing, while giving the marketing team flexible tools to communicate with clarity. Above all, it had to reflect The Lyric’s role as a modern, welcoming, and accessible playhouse for everyone.
