Manuals is a landmark title in graphic design, first published in two volumes by Unit Editions. It presents the most comprehensive study of brand manuals from the golden age of corporate identity. Thames & Hudson republished both books for the first time in a single bumper edition, for which I designed the cover.
The design layers a foil-stamped jacket – detailing the featured case studies – over a bright yellow case. When the jacket is removed, the book’s interior grid is revealed, tying the object itself to the rigorous design systems it documents.
