As part of an extensive refurbishment of their ground floor, the Carlton Hotel at Dublin Airport engaged TAP to reinvigorate their new restaurant, bar and café experience, establishing it as a go-to destination for great food and drink in North Dublin.
Core to the success of the identities we created for each of these offers was the creation of a consistent visual theme - and due to its proximity to the airport - focused on aviation. This core theme allowed us to explore a distinctive character for each offer, whilst subliminally linking them together for the customer, creating meaningful storytelling and depth. The Mayfly Restaurant was first up.
The name was derived from the early aircraft, designed, built and flown by the Irish pioneer aviator Lilian Bland in 1910 - the Bland Mayfly. We crafted a visually sophisticated design language to reflect the more upmarket interior designed by architects Gaffney Associates. Rich blues and brass finishes form the primary colour palette. A refined logotype inspired by the basic wing tips of the early aircraft pervades this premium aesthetic with a secondary mayfly motif used as a further mark of distinction.
The identity is applied fluently across all menus, stationery, uniforms etc and creates the platform for all future brand development.
