Pandemic Greeting Cards

Mary McGarry has been working with me on my collection of wordy greeting cards for the last few years. I do the wordsmithing and Mary takes care of the visuals and print quality. I had mixed feelings about producing this range because I didn't want to be profiting from a pandemic. But, after receiving so many requests from friends and customers, I decided to give them a go in the hope that they would bring a little joy during a very difficult time. There were 6 cards in total in the collection and here's a little more about them.

School’s Out Colour In Postcard for children to send to all their pals they're missing. I finalised the wording with my niece and nephew who are in primary school. My original brief was for A6 postcards but Mary suggested the colour-in option as, during this time, she was on the lookout for things to entertain her children while trying to do her freelance work at home. They were a big hit with kids.Everyday Hero to show your appreciation for frontline workers, especially since this was the time people were clapping for workers and the risks they were taking on all our behalf. The Virtual Birthday and Celebrate Later cards were to assure folks that their big occasions wouldn't be forgotten. Whatever about regular birthdays but unfortunately some people didn't get to mark once-in-a-lifetime rites of passages such as graduations or weddings.Be Kind to Yourself to take the pressure off people thinking they have to be productive during an emergency. There was a lot of guff on social media and mainstream media about using this time to do stuff you'd always put on the long finger as if we were all at home because of the snow. I felt it was undue pressure during an emergency and wanted a card to communicate that. Together Apart is the paper equivalent of the check-in text. I know many politicians and hacks used the cliche together apart but it really was the first time many of us were prohibited from seeing our loved ones.
