In April 2021, The Herbert Park Hotel approached us with an exciting new venture. With the hotel closed under the Covid 19 restrictions in place at the time, and Spring well underway, the hotel saw an opportunity to bring a bit of atmosphere to the busy throughway between Dublin’s iconic Herbert Park and Merrion Road. They opened a pop up takeaway coffee shop, and tasked us with generating a name, identity, and signage scheme, bearing in mind the pop up nature of the venture.

We named the pop up ‘Park Coffee’, taking our inspiration from Herbert Park, and the flora, fauna and folks that are a part of it. At this time during the pandemic, parks and outdoor spaces had become so important, serving as places to safely connect with each other and with nature.

With a limited budget, we saw a big opportunity in working with the glazing that makes up the front of the unit. We created a 35 metre long illustration featuring a collection of the park’s inhabitants which spans the full facade and adds some much needed colour to the throughway. In addition to signage we designed fully compostable cups which feature the illustrations all the way around their circumference.
