Right to the Night

Right to the Night (2023–2024) was a project led by artist Aisling O'Beirn and a constellation of dedicated collaborators. The project illuminated a path toward reclaiming Belfast's nocturnal soul, weaving together diverse expertise to champion and enhance our access to the vanishing canvas of the night.

This small publication brings together research, activities, collaborations, and documentation from the final work, Suggestions for Stargazing, an installation in Waterworks Park, North Belfast (2024). It also features a specially commissioned essay by Dr Oliver Dunnett, Light Pollution and the Right to the Night.

The 12 pages of this concertina-fold publication give a nod to lunar calendar, while the format echoes earlier handmade works by the artist. Printed in silver ink on a deep black paper.
