Rock and Roll Playhouse is an interactive concert series at Kaufman Music Center which aims to introduce young children to iconic rock music. This programme operates alongside Broadway Playhouse, which introduces children to the work of celebrated Broadway composers. These two initiatives, together known as Kids Playhouse, are designed to allow parents to enjoy the music they love while making live performance accessible for children aged 1-7.
The visual direction responded directly to the artists featured in the series, Bob Marley and the Grateful Dead. Birds were chosen to represent the themes and emotions of this music, drawing on the songs Three Little Birds by Bob Marley and Bird Song by the Grateful Dead. Also taking inspiration from the 1969 Woodstock festival poster, the designs use hand-drawn elements to create an inviting, nostalgic feel. The system was applied across large-format posters installed outside the box office and illustrated zines for children and parents to take home on the day.
