This handmade artist catalogue was created to accompany artist Mary-Ruth Walsh’s exhibition Skin Deep. Through the medium of film, collage and sculpture, the artist explored skin’s parallels to architecture. The book design grew out of a number of conversations with the artist and curator where we discussed the different themes arising in her work.

'Après Eileen Gray', an artwork comprising of a six-panel pink folding screen, particularly resonated with me. The design of the book reflects this artwork in its structure, layout and colour palette.

The book is comprised of 3 sections, each of which are hand-sewn into a bright pink six-panel spine. 'Après Eileen Gray' sits in the centrefold of the middle section, alongside other full colour reproductions of artist’s works. The first and last sections contain essays by Yvonne Scott & Katherine Waugh, with an introduction by curator Catherine Bowe.

I handbound a limited edition of 250 books for this commission.
