Soul Snacks is a wellbeing resource to help cancer patients through diagnosis, treatment and beyond.

It aims to offer a safe and science backed resource to help navigate the abundance of overwhelming, and often contradictory nature of online information. Current booklets are often discarded. They only offer a brief outline of the diagnosis and use very clinical language and design.

It is a collaboration between a former cancer patient and designer, and is written by psychologists in the Beaumont RCSI Cancer Centre.

The information provided is based on current research and evidence, as well as a patient's own authentic experience. It empowers patients by outlining simple practices to try for themselves.

The pack includes 77 cards including an A-Z of practises and techniques, Wild Cards and a references and resources booklet. The Wild Cards serve as an invitation to step out of your comfort zone, and try something new. It also includes a booklet with an extensive list of books, websites, documentaries, and other podcasts that have all been fact checked by the psychology team.

The identity is inspired by the patient/designer's own experience. Staying positive and accepting change were both helpful in getting through a difficult experience.

The pack design is functional yet uplifting, recognising the need for clarity and the power of creativity and colour as a form of art therapy. The cards are rich in colour, and varied in style, with the hope that each one will serve as an individual piece of art, the patient can keep, share or throw away. Perhaps they will only keep the cards they find useful.
