The Brief: The objective was to completely redesign and reimagine the second edition of ‘The Teenagers Book of Life’, a roadmap for young people navigating the complexities of modern life. Originally released in 2021, the author sought a visual language that felt more resonant, tactile, and supportive for a generation facing unprecedented challenges from social media and constant digital connectivity.

The Creative Approach: The design strategy was centred on the idea of a ‘roadmap’ that did not feel like a textbook. We aimed to create a physical object that felt both magical and grounded. Central to this was the collaboration with the illustrator, whose evocative, ethereal style provided a visual ‘breathing space’ for the reader.

The typography and layout were carefully considered to handle sensitive subject matter with clarity and warmth. We moved away from standard instructional layouts in favour of an organic flow, allowing the illustrations and text to weave together. The goal was to ensure the book felt like a trusted companion—something a teenager would want to keep on their bedside table rather than a shelf.

The Process: The project was a deeply collaborative effort between the design team, the illustrator, and the author. Every element, from the paper stock selection to the pacing of the chapters, was chosen to reinforce the author’s mission of promoting well-being and resilience for the ‘greater good’.

The Result: The finished work is a 200+ page book and supporting website that balances editorial structure with artistic expression. By placing high-quality illustration at the heart of the design, we transformed a self-help guide into a visual experience that speaks directly to the emotional landscape of contemporary teenagers.
