The Hat Maker is a boutique four-star hotel in Dungarvan, set in a restored Georgian townhouse once home to hatmaker William Orr. With interiors rich in layered story – a maximalist mix of antiques, bold patterns, and contemporary flair – capturing a unified brand character was a central challenge. The identity needed to frame the hotel’s exuberant detail without competing for attention, honouring heritage while expressing playful sophistication.

Every design decision reinforced the Hat Maker’s core principles: contrast, curation, and quiet confidence. The new identity is anchored by an elegant serif wordmark, merging classic Georgian refinement with contemporary poise – reflecting the building’s heritage and the luxury experience within.

The wordmark is paired with a restrained palette inspired by the hotel’s iconic black-and-white floor tiles, which are a unifying pattern in the hotels maximalist interior. Typography, layout, and print collateral are carefully considered – menus, signage, and in-room materials are unified through tactile finishes and thoughtful detail, ensuring each guest touchpoint feels curated and memorable.

The digital experience also reflects the core principles. The website serves as an intuitive, image-led front door – balancing stunning photography with compositional clarity, prioritising user experience, and inviting exploration. Visual continuity between online and physical space was critical: navigation structures and content flow mirror the guest journey within the hotel, offering seamless anticipation from booking to arrival.

The result is a brand that feels both polished and personal: the spirit of a Georgian townhouse reimagined, where heritage is celebrated, and distinctive detail is never lost. The Hat Maker’s new identity elevates the guest experience, providing moments of surprise, comfort, and delight, unified by a clear concept and design craft. This cohesive identity stands as testament to the power of aligning story, design, and execution in the creation of unforgettable hospitality brands.
