The Saol Gaze

Celebrating female creativity over the last 200 years, women from the SAOL Project in Dublin 1 worked with artist Sorcha Kenny to explore and respond to work from The Long Gaze Back, an anthology of Irish women writers which is this year's selection for Dublin: One City, One Book. The group read and discussed the book together, with some of the stories then acting as jumping off points for the women's own creative writing. The resulting work was combined with lines from the book and developed into a filmed portrait, shot on location in the Abbey Theatre.

We were commissioned to design a publication that acted as an artefact of the collaborative process, bringing together the unique narratives of the project’s participants.
