This poster was a labour of love for us. We had just set up our studio and we had a lot of free time between client work, so we considered making a poster that celebrated Dublin. We wanted it to be authentic, so we included some things that only Dubliners would know. Having moved to Dublin as adults we were able to see it both as outsiders and insiders, we knew what was unique to it that locals might overlook. There are over 160 individual panels ranging from simple typographic designs to detailed illustrations like The Long Hall. We compiled a list of everything we wanted and slowly worked though it, designing something for each one, introducing a bit of humor wherever we could. The poster took nine months to design. We printed it on 160gm crisp white paper in two spot colours and limited the run to 500. The poster really resonated with Dubliners, it was featured on The Journal, Broadsheet and created a buzz on twitter. People send us photos of it mounted on walls as far away as California, Africa and Japan. We sold out in a few weeks and still get asked if there are any left!
