Film Poster & Main Title

Up & Away, an Irish short film by Jamie Goldrick and Push Pull Media, tells the extraordinary story about the 1973 Mountjoy Prison helicopter escape. Three Provisional Irish Republican Army volunteers escaped from Mountjoy Prison aboard a hijacked Alouette II helicopter, which briefly landed in the prison’s exercise yard.

The heavy typography, dot-matrix image treatments and poster layout all emulate the aesthetic of 1970s & 80s Irish Republican propaganda posters to evoke a sense of time and place. The layout lent itself to be easily redesigned in several formats, including a square animated version for social media, landscape web banners as well as the portrait poster for print.

Up & Away premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh 2020 and has been selected by film festivals such as Docs Ireland, British Documentary Film Festival, Still Voices Short Film Festival and Fastnet Film Festival.
