The Institute of Designers in Ireland is the largest and oldest association of design professionals and longest established creative forum in Ireland. Each year the IDI Awards celebrate and promote outstanding achievements across the design spectrum in Ireland.

In 2017 the IDI Awards committee implemented a design-led approach from inception to execution, which culminated in a bespoke outdoor event and a new ceremony format with integrated in situ exhibition.

The identity for the 2017 IDI awards was designed to communicate this new energy and a sense of celebration. This was achieved with an impactful and dynamic visual language and the use of a vibrant colour palette.

The iconic eye, symbol of the IDI, was deconstructed into its basic geometric components. These have been then reassembled to generate a series of geometric patterns.

This process references and celebrates what is shared across all disciplines encompassed by the IDI, i.e. design thinking: deconstructing and reconstructing.

A dedicated webpage was designed and strong social media campaign (with 50+ animated gifs) was implemented during the lead-up to the event. A new modular exhibition system (and lectern) was designed for the event together with numerous print touch-points.
