Offset is an inspirational conference for design and creative industries in Ireland. It has continuously grown in popularity over the years, with the 2016 conference being it’s most ambitious to date. The “Offside” exhibition was a collaboration with Póg Mo Goal and OFFSET, resulting in an exhibition in the Square Ball, Dublin. The exhibition was one of many connected to the Offset conference, which took place during the week running up to and after the conference itself. Póg Mo Goal commissioned international and Irish designers to produce a series of match-day posters for the Republic of Ireland’s three group-games in the European Championships in France (UEFA Euro 2016).

This poster was produced as a match-day poster for the Republic of Ireland’s Group E match against Belgium, which took place on Saturday 18th June 2016 at 3pm in Stade de Bordeaux, Bordeaux. Foregrounded in the print is the simple use of the circle as a central focus. The captured motion of the ball hitting the back of the net draws the viewer in. Bold yellow and red stripes at the bottom of the poster denote the Belgian flag. These stripes also act as a typographical holding device for the informational aspect of the poster design.

The exhibition also featured Post (Dublin), Workgroup (Dublin), Indigo & Cloth (Dublin), Hort (Berlin), Kessels Kramer (Amsterdam), Snask (Stockholm) among many others.
